A score
you can
check.

Sartio looks at your wardrobe and suggests what to wear. The score isn’t an opinion: it is calculated from a written rulebook of over 220 rules and tips, and every point comes with the rule that explains it.

The rulebook

Over 220 rules and tips.
Written, not generated.

Sartio’s rulebook is built on classic texts of tailoring and etiquette, with every rule compared across several sources: where the sources agree a rule weighs more, where only one speaks of it, it weighs less. The score is a written formula: the share of weight of the rules kept, on a scale from 1 to 10.

  • 137rules that decide the score

Colour, pattern, proportion, cloth, occasion. 13 of them mark an outright mistake.

  • 83matters of taste

They weigh little or stay out of the score: they refine it.

  • 79cloths in 8 families

From worsted wool to fine hair, from linen to silk.

  • 8levels of formality

From sport to white tie: every occasion asks for its own.

  • 2,130test cases

The same result, case by case, from the reference engine and the app.

The idea

Three questions, every day.

  1. 01

    What do I wear?

Each morning, an outfit ready from your own wardrobe, chosen for what’s in your calendar and for the weather. Hold on to the piece you like, ask for another take on the rest.

  2. 02

    Should I buy it?

In the shop, point the camera at the piece. Sartio tells you whether it suits you and how many things in your wardrobe it goes with, before you reach the till.

  3. 03

    How do I look?

A score from one to ten for the whole outfit and for each piece, with the rules kept and the rules missed, and the one change that would raise it.

The principle

The rule gives the score.
The intelligence explains it.

9.5Impeccable
Rules 2026.1
  • Colours within your contrast range10.0

The rule calls for every piece to sit within the contrast of your face.

  • A colour family in common10.0

The rule says suit, shirt and tie should speak to each other.

  • Patterns in balance8.5

Two patterns together, as long as their scale differs.

  • Pocket square: related, not twin10.0

The rule suggests echoing a colour, not copying it.

  • Right for the occasion10.0

A client meeting calls for this degree of formality.

Explained on your phone
For tomorrow’s meeting you’re on safe ground: the white of the shirt returns in the pocket square and in the dots of the tie. The chalk stripe and the dots differ in scale, so they sit well together. To go higher still, a tie with a thread of navy would tie in the suit.

The verdict isn’t made up by a language model: it is computed by an engine of menswear rules that we write and test ourselves. The same outfit always gets the same score. Then, on the phone, Apple Intelligence takes those numbers and puts them into words, the way a tailor would. The number first, then the story.

The design

You choose with cloth.
You judge with the dial.

The cloth

Where you choose, the fabrics fill the screen. Swipe a band as if drawing a tie from the pile, press and hold to keep it. The controls are glass, floating on top.

9.0Very good

The dial

Where you judge, the instrument is neutral: white, black, greys and monospaced figures. Its only colours are the fabrics it measures, the segments of its ring.

The cloth brings the colour. The dial doesn’t.

The app

Three screens, one gesture each.

Previews of the design direction. The app is in the making: shapes and wording may still change.

Why we’re making it

Most of us own a good wardrobe and wear a third of it. Not out of laziness: out of doubt.

The rules of dressing well exist. Generations of tailors refined them, but they live in books and workrooms. Fashion apps, meanwhile, show you models and sell you new clothes.

We want to do the opposite: take those rules, turn them into a precise instrument, and set it beside what you already own. Italian elegance, English measure. A score that doesn’t change with the mood, and tells you why.
